Dr. Mohamed A. Eid is Vice President and Head of Clinical Research and MedicalAffairs for the Diabetes, Metabolism, Cardio-Renal, Obesity, NASH and RespiratoryMedicine at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, USA. He holds a Medical Degreewith honors from the University of Alexandria, Egypt and subsequently practicedmedicine focusing on Endocrine, Diabetes and Metabolism. Dr Eid trained in ClinicalPharmacology at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (NewYork, USA). He then joined the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center andSchool of Public Health where he obtained two Master’s Degrees: a Master’s Degreemajoring in Clinical Research & Public Health and a Master’s Degree in HealthcareManagement. His post-graduate research in the USA focused on Diabetes and itsComplications. Prior to working at Boehringer Ingelheim, Dr Eid was at Novo Nordisk asCorporate Vice President and Head of Clinical Development, Medical Affairs andRegulatory Affairs for Region Europe, VP and Head of Clinical, Medical & Regulatory inCanada; Chief Medical Officer and Head of Medical & Scientific Affairs in Region Japan& Korea; and Executive Director of Medical & Scientific Affairs and Chairman of theDiabetes Investigator-Initiated Research in USA. Peter Kurtzhals is Chief Scientific Advisor for Novo Nordisk R&D. He holds a PhD degreefrom The Royal Danish School of Pharmacy, has been a visiting scientist at the JoslinDiabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, in Boston and was appointed adjunct professorat the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in 2012. PeterKurtzhals joined Novo Nordisk in 1990. He was Senior Vice President and Head of NovoNordisk’s Global Research organisation 2001-2018. In April 2018 he was appointed ChiefScientific Advisor for Novo Nordisk R&D. Furthermore, he is the chairman of the ResearchPolicy Committee of the Danish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry, a member ofthe EFPIA Innovation Committee and a member of the the Development Council forCopenhagen Science City.
